Ikorodu flags-off rehabilitation of 186.9 link road

CITIZENS COMPASS —The Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos State, has flagged off the construction of 186.9 metres of Otambala link road at Odugate area in Ikorodu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Council Chairman, Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, said the road rehabilitation was part of the commitment of the local government towards improving and developing infrastructural standards in Ikorodu.

The Chairman said the rehabilitation would be completed within three months to ease movement of motorists linking Ireshe road.

The council boss said the rehabilitation was necessary to ensure easy movement of traffic and to prevent gridlock within Ikorodu which has been a major challenge especially during the Yuletide period.

“My administration is committed to  infrastructural developments and that is why we rehabilitates our link roads.

“The Otambala link road constructed 40 years ago, is very important because it will reduce traffic jam at the Ita-elewa junction especially during the Yuletide.

“We are ready to work to surmount further challenges that could be encountered by motorists plying through Ita-elewa.

“Due to the request and yearnings of our community residents, we have decided to fix the road and make it a modern-day standard to ease the pains of road users,” he said.

However, the council boss appealed to the residents to exercise patience and understanding as the workers begin rehabilitation work in the area immediately, which he said would not be too long.

Adesina, highlighted some of his achievements which includes the rehabilitation of Salvation Army Primary School, Rehabilitation of Itundofin road, Provision of chairs and benches to primary schools, Jamaitul Islamiya perimeter fencing.

He also added setting of computer units in primary schools across the council for training students and teachers, provision of bore holes in all the wards, establishment of Joint Taskforce(JTF) construction of drainages among other projects.

He appealed to the residents to support his administration and  promised that the local government would experience more infrastructural development in fulfillment of his campaign promises in years to come
