Comic actor, Samanja dies
CITIZENS COMPASS —The film industry in Nigeria has lost one of its veteran comic relief actors, Usman Baba Pategi, popularly known as Samanja.
He was aged 81.
Samanja reigned between 80s and 90s having featured in some comic relief films.
It was gathered that the actor who was about one of the most popular thespians to have come out of Northern Nigeria died in the early hours of Sunday, at Garden City Hospital, in Kaduna after a prolonged illness.
He was a retired Nigerian soldier and worked with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna national station.
He brought his soldierly instincts to bear in several drama presentations.
He left behind two wives and 14 children. His funeral was held at 10am at Jaafaru Estate Juma’at Mosque, Kabala Costain, Kaduna.
