Fire outbreak in Lagos as tanker upturns
CITIZENS COMPASS – Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, alarmed following a fire incident that occurred after a tanker laden with Petroleum product uverturned spilling its content.
According to the Director of the Fire Service, Adeseye Margaret, this occurred
at about 18:10 hours, at Poka Road, Oke Osho, Epe area of the State.
In her updates, she said, “A Fire has emerged from an oil tanker accident at about 18:10 hours Tuesday at Poka Road, Oke Osho, Epe.
” The tanker which reportedly veered off the road while on motion and crashed into the road median, upturned and spilt its 33,000 litres PMS content.
“The Epe Fire Stations 1 and 2 of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service had blanketed the entire region with chemical foam compound before the flowing fuel met an ignition a distance away and resulted in Fire which is under control.
” However, there has been no incident of injury or death as both Driver and assistant escaped unhurt while Firefighting operations continue.”
