Lagos CP, NDLEA Commander, to lead NAOSNP Walk Against Drug Abuse, cultism, others
CITIZENS COMPASS – LAGOS State Commissioner of Police,, CP Idowu Owohunwa and the State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Umar Isa Adoro, are among top dignitaries scheduled to lead the much advertised Walk Against Drug Abuse, Cultism and Domestic Violence, being organised by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).
The event which is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 20, will kick off at the Lagos Police Command Headquarters at GRA, Ikeja, is a sensitization and advocacy programme to create awareness on the dangers of abusing drugs, joining cults and engaging in any form of domestic and sexual violence, as well as drum support from stakeholders towards keeping watch against the occurence of the aforementioned societal menace.
Speaking on the Walk, the Commissioner of Lagos, who was highly elated at the idea, noted that it is high time the public is made to know more about the dangers they are putting themselves in by engaging in crime and criminality.
“The idea is great, and I am totally in support. The public must continue to hear the message of desisting from all forms of criminality, and be more Law abiding. On behalf of the Lagos Police Command, I thank NAOSNP for their thoughtfulness, and being a veritable partner in the fight crime in Nigeria, and Lagos in particular,” Owohunwa said.
The Walk, which the Chairman of the Organising Committee, who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of the Association, Mr. Eric Elezuo, assures will be mega, is expected to have in attendance other agencies and high profile institutions and personalities including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), DCP Chioma Ajunwa, Popular Actress, Chief Mrs Bose Joseph, Hon. Seye Olofin among others.
The event is supported by multinational brands including Dangote Industries, C-Way, Zenith Sports, FrieslandCampina, Access Bank, Unity Bank, FirstBank and a host of others.
In his goodwill message, National President of the Association, Mr. Samson Oki, extended invitation to all members of the public including celebrities, market men and women, professionals and parents and guardians.
We need to tell ourselves the truth; these menace are fast eroding our value system, and we must as matter of urgency stamp them from our society. That explains why it is a Walk for all and sundry, and we invite everyone to be part of it,” Oki said.
The Walk will terminate at the Lagos State House Assembly Complex, where a high ranking official will address the audience.
