Fire guts Zenith Bank power house
CITIZENS COMPASS – A branch of Zenith Bank Plc, on Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, was gutted by fire on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed this to Citizens Compass after combating the inferno.
According to Director of the fire service, Margaret Adeseye who confirmed this in a statement.
She said the agency responded to another fire outbreak at Mende, Marland area.
She said, ” On arrival at the scene which was reported at 07:25 hours, it was discovered that a room on the ground floor of a four storey building housing the alternative power source inverter panels and batteries was on flame and subsequently doused before it could spread and cause any meaningful damage.
” This was just as the Agency, overnight put out a warehouse inferno at 1, Olabisi Close, Mende – Maryland, Lagos
” The warehouse which measured about 2000 square feet. However spread to the fourth floor in an unusual patern leaving the first to third floor unaffected.
” The building which housed both commercial and residential floors has the ground floor as commercial storage of clothing materials engulfed in the ensuing Fire with residential accommodation on the first to the fourth floors.
” Officers of the Lagos State and Federal Fire Service, the Nigerian Police, Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) all worked together in the Maryland Fire.
” Meanwhile, there was no record of death or injury at both scenes of the incidents which were just two out of the two emergencies attended to by the Agency in the last 24 hours.”
It will be recalled that few weeks ago, a fire outbreak was recorded in same branch.
