2024 Budget: Ikorodu to prioritise education

CITIZENS COMPASS —The Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos State, Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, on Wednesday, restated the commitment of his administration to prioritise education in the 2024 fiscal budget.
Adesina said this at the grand finale of a quiz competition and Christmas carol organised for primary school pupils at the Council zecretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He said that a substantial portion of the council’s 2024 budget would be dedicated towards enhancing the educational sector and build upon the achievements of the previous year.
“The commitment to prioritizing education in the proposed 2024 budget is seen as a progressive step towards fostering growth and development within the community
“Our aims is to amplify efforts to improve the standard of education by increasing the capacity of educational programs initiated in 2023.
“Everything we have accomplished in 2023 shows we have a lot to do concerning our education system in Ikorodu Local Government, so we’re moving towards that direction in 2024,” the council boss said.
According to him, as Ikorodu Local Government gears up for the new fiscal year, the anticipation is high for positive impact and overall well-being of its residents.
The council boss advised the students to ensure they focus on their studies do that they can can become a better future leader
Similarly, Mrs Abolanle Adesina, wife of the Chairman, said the event was a heartwarming get together to show love, dance, and generous gift-sharing.
According to her, the gathering would bring together students from all the 16 public schools within the local government, teachers, and parents, fostering an atmosphere of merriment.
“We want to appreciate everyone who has stood by this administration, and this programme is another way we are saying thank you to all.
“I appreciate all the legislature and the local government staff for their unwavering commitment and support given to the administration.
“We want the students to have a nice time and give themselves a break from their studies and enjoy themselves,”she said.
The teachers lauded the chairman’s efforts, expressing excitement about the council’s commitment to enhancing the education sector in the local government and appealed for more attention on infrastructures.
