20 detainees yet to regain freedom after completing special fraud terms
… AIG Owohunwa visits cells, shows concern
CITIZENS COMPASS —No fewer than 20 detainees are yet to regain their freedom after completing their jail term at Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) in Lagos.
However, the Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Idowu Owohunwa,, has shown serious concern for them when he conducted a visit to their Cells on Friday.
The AIG noticed their predicament when he engaged the detainees in a conversation.
During the visit, the AIG cautioned the CP PSFU and emphasized the importance of consistent monitoring of the cell to prevent custodial violence.
Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity to respect the rights of citizens in custody. He said,
This visit serves as a reminder of our commitment to ensuring humane treatment and upholding the fundamental rights of individuals in detention.”
He urged all Sectional head to take a proactive approach by routinely visiting the cell within their purview to ensure justice and human rights preservation
