CITIZENS COMPASS –An 18-year-old girlfriend, Rosemary Okon Bassey, has fallen sick in the residence of her boyfriend, Jamiu Odekunle and thereafter died in the hospital in Ogun State.
Until the incident, Odekunle lived at 29, New Heaven Avenue, Makogi, Ibafo in Ogun State.
Rosemary was said to have fallen ill on Thursday, December 26, 2024 and died on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
The boyfriend was said to have rushed to the Ibafo Divisional Police Division to alert the Police about the death.
Confirming the death in a statement, spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said,
“The Divisional Police Officer of Ibafo has reported a case of sudden and unnatural death following the passing of a woman named Rosemary, whose condition was described by the doctor as an internal ailment.
“On January 11, 2025, around 10:40 AM, Jamiu Odekule, a male resident of 29 New Heaven Avenue, Makogi, Ibafo in Ogun State, visited the station to report an incident. He stated that on December 26, 2024, his 18-year-old girlfriend, Rosemary Okon Bassey, fell ill, prompting him to take her to the Royal Crest Hospital in Makogi, where she was diagnosed with a hole in the heart defect and referred to Sagamu Teaching Hospital for treatment. Jamiu further recounted that on January 11, 2025, at about 5:00 AM, Rosemary passed away.
“Upon receiving this report, the Divisional Police Officer visited the location and confirmed that there were no signs of violence on the deceased’s body.
The body has been evacuated to the Sagamu Teaching Hospital mortuary for an autopsy, and ongoing investigations will continue. Further updates will be provided.”
